The Method

Five moves. Five failures they prevent.

Launch Your Influence® AI Enablement Method™ — the operating method

The method came out of building a live, instrumented, governed operating system in days — by the operator, with no engineering team. It has since been applied to problems that share none of that context, which is the point. It is a method about sequence and authorship, not about tooling. Each move exists because something predictable goes wrong without it — so the failure is named beside the move.

The five moves are the operating method — how work is sequenced and who holds authorship. Distinct from the delivery method (Select · Build · Activate), which governs how an enablement engagement is run with participants.

01

Bring the artifact, not the spec

Start from what already carries intent — a mockup, a flyer, a deck, a source document — rather than from a written brief.

Prevents

The translation tax. Describing what you want takes longer than handing over the thing that already means it, and every round of description drifts further from the intent you started with.

02

Ship narrow, extend on evidence

Launch the minimum surface that answers your actual open question, then let observed behavior decide what gets built next.

Prevents

Building the wrong thing completely. A full specification commits you to your guesses. A narrow launch replaces guesses with observation before the cost of being wrong compounds.

03

Instrument before you need the answer

Turn on measurement before the first audience arrives — not after the strongest traffic has already passed.

Prevents

The unanswerable question. Measurement added late cannot describe what already happened. The moment you most need the data is the moment it does not exist.

04

Build governance into the work

Access, privacy, permissions and accountability belong in the workflow from the first day, handled alongside feature work rather than after it.

Prevents

The speed-versus-safety trade. Governance deferred is governance skipped. A fast decision made without controls becomes an exposure nobody chose and everybody owns.

05

Keep the data first-party

Registrations, feedback and action signals stay controlled, exportable and usable by the operator who generated them.

Prevents

Dependency. Evidence held by a vendor is evidence you can lose — to an ownership dispute, a price change, or a platform decision you were not part of.

The Standard Beneath It

Human Originated, Directed and Led — AI Orchestrated

The five moves hold because of the standard underneath them. The expert is put in the chair as author and approver, and the system runs beneath their judgment. The knowledge becomes the organization's; the authority stays with the person.

The Human — stays in control
Originates · Directs · Decides · Reviews · Approves
The AI — orchestrates beneath
Drafts · Structures · Transcribes · Organizes · Accelerates

This is why adoption stops stalling. The expert whose knowledge the system needs resists it rationally — automation appears to erase the visible evidence of their judgment. Under this standard they are not being replaced. They are being published.

What this paper does, and does not, contain

This paper names the five moves and the failures each one prevents. It is written so a leader can recognize which failure is happening in their own organization right now.

How each move is run is the work of an engagement — the gates between them, the diagnostic that selects what to capture first, and what to do when a move fails. Recognition is the product of this document. Execution is not.

If one of these failures is familiar, the method is already describing your organization — and the question is which one.

Find the failure that is already happening — and what it costs while it stays unnamed.
